Ink on Wood

This painted work is part of a group of artworks, titled “Third Patterns.”

The term, from popular science, is used to describe the creation of a new structure when two or more overlapping patterns in physical matter or space are combined or layered, a new one is created.

A third pattern refers to the 'new life' structure' that is created.

The linear forms are painted directly over exposed wood grain, forming new patterns and imagery.
